Quality of life survey 2024

As part of our vision to make Cambridgeshire greener, fairer and more caring, we have launched our second annual countywide Quality of Life survey.

Read our Strategic Framework document (opens as a .pdf) to find out more about the seven ambitions we have developed to achieve our vision.

The annual survey will reach a sample of 5,500 residents to understand their views on the quality of their lives. It aims to track the responses over time to see how changes to our decisions and policies – and the work of other public sector bodies in the county - affect people’s views, and to give Members vital insight when they make business planning decisions.

This year, we have partnered on the survey with Cambridge Ahead, South Cambridgeshire District Council and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

Information from the survey will also be published on our website annually so residents can track changes over time.

The survey – run by an independent market research company Thinks Insight – aims to speak to 1,100 people aged 18+ living in each of the five Cambridgeshire district areas – broadly representing that area’s population, which will allow us to drill down into the results in each area.

They will also be talking to people from specific groups who are less often heard from including people who may have been homeless, or are from migrant or Gypsy/Roma/Traveller communities.

The survey went live on 7 May for initial piloting with residents, with an external publicity launch on 15 May. Fieldwork will continue until July, allowing results to be fed back into our meetings from September onwards as Members discuss priorities for setting budgets.

In addition to the main survey, you can have your say by completing the online version of the survey. The results of this wider public survey will be analysed and published separate to the main survey sample but will still be used to provide decision makers insight.
