As we welcome 2025, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the past year and share some thoughts about the exciting year ahead. Serving as the Chair of Cambridgeshire County Council for the second time has been the greatest honour of my life. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me, and I remain committed to working tirelessly to support our local communities, helping to highlight the wonderful initiatives across the county that improve and safeguard lives, and to ensure the smooth running of local democracy at the council.
2025 will be a significant year for our community, as we prepare for the local government elections. These elections are not just a time to choose your representatives; they are a chance to shape the future of Cambridgeshire. I encourage everyone to ensure they are registered to vote. Your voice matters, and your participation is crucial.
For those who feel inspired to make a difference, this is also an opportunity to consider standing for election as a councillor. Serving as a councillor is a deeply rewarding experience, allowing you to directly contribute to the wellbeing of our communities. Look out for the upcoming campaign on how to become a Councillor, to learn more about this vital role.
As a council, our vision remains steadfast: to make Cambridgeshire a greener, fairer, and more caring county. This is no small task, but I am continually inspired by the dedication of our hardworking colleagues, who strive every day to turn this vision into reality.
In the coming year, we will face challenges, but we will face them together. Whether it’s continuing our efforts to tackle the cost-of-living pressures, or working towards our environmental goals, collaboration and community spirit will be key to our success.
To everyone in Cambridgeshire, I wish you and your loved ones a year filled with hope, happiness, and opportunity. Let’s make 2025 a year to remember, as we work together to build a brighter future for our county.
Thank you, and happy new year!
