I’m a Getting Old Romantics Dancing Again Worker

After taking a position as a Support Worker in 2015, Laura Clarke is now a Reablement Service Team Lead working for the Prevention and Early Intervention Service.  . Having started at the bottom of the ladder, within six months she was promoted to Lead Reablement Worker, creating care plans for service users and carrying out regular reviews.

She was then promoted again, becoming one of the pioneers of the Enhanced Response Team, a role that gave her vital managerial experience and that qualified her for her current position of Reablement Service Lead.

Emiline Garcia, Lead Reablement Worker, has worked for the Reablement team for almost five years. As well as the satisfaction she gets from helping service users every day, she feels thankful to have had the opportunity to progress and develop her career through training and managerial support. Unlike her previous agency roles, Emiline finds she now has time for her family and herself.

Become a Reablement Worker

If you’d like to join our team, we have opportunities within Reablement Services that could allow you to follow similar career paths to those of Elvira, Emiline and Laura. We are also able to offer other roles within Adult Early Help, Occupational Therapy, Enhanced Response Services and Technology Enabled Care.

Enhanced Response Service - Responder

Attending to one off urgent social care needs such as responding to referrals received from Ambulance service, 111, Careline and other CCC working partnerships, providing support for non-injured falls, mobility issues, personal care, and meal preparation. Responders receive a vast amount of training including first aid, assisting people to move, and safeguarding.

Our Enhanced Response Service works in a preventative way: signposting to local services, providing equipment if required and following up with referrals to services to assess the needs of the individual, supporting them to remain safe and independent at home. • Would you like to have a job where you help people to enjoy life again?
  • Do you have great communication skills?
  • Are you a team player with good decision-making skills, with a can-do attitude and a flexible approach?
  • Do you have a full driving licence, and access to a car?

If so, we would love to talk to you about our reablement support worker roles. Having the right values and behaviours is more important than a social work qualification. We can support you to gain a qualification while doing the job.

Our reablement support workers motivate and inspire people to re-learn tasks and activities that are key to their quality of life.

Reablement support workers go out into the community. They usually see several service users each day. They help people to stay on track to stay independent.

Support usually lasts less than six weeks and helps people carry out tasks they identify as important. This may be cooking, getting down the steps into the garden, or dressing themselves. Each programme is tailored to the individual.

Unlike care - which treats individuals as passive recipients - reablement works in partnership with the individual.

If the service user needs further support afterwards, support outside of the reablement service will support their ongoing care needs.

We will support you to gain a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, but you can do these once you’re in the job if you don’t already have it.

We can also offer:

  • competitive salary of £18,933 - £19,698, equivalent to an hourly rate of £9.81 - £10.21
  • enhanced pay rates for evenings, weekends and bank holidays - up to double time
  • flexible working with variable hours to suit your lifestyle, in your local area
  • generous mileage allowance of 45p a mile
  • up to 30 days annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays (pro rata), subject to length of service
  • mobile phone
  • uniform
  • membership of the Local Government Pension scheme
  • ongoing continued professional development
  • lease car scheme (subject to terms and conditions)
