Cambridgeshire County Council commission a specialist supplier to undertake traffic surveys each year. These surveys count the number of pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooters and vehicles on a selection of key roads, cycleways and footways across the county. The data gathered via these surveys is used as a guide to help understand the trends in public highway usage. It is also used within decision-making processes.

The Policy and Insight Team analyse the data from each annual survey, and present the results within an Annual Traffic Monitoring Report. The page will be updated each year with the latest report. It also contains links to reports from previous years, should you require them.

Data from the surveys conducted from 2017 onwards has been made available via the Maps Cambridgeshire system (map, below). You can also use our interactive dashboard to explore the survey data. Within the Cambridgeshire Insight document library, there is also an excel file complete with survey data.

Data from previous surveys dating back to 1997 is available on request. Visit Annual and Permanent Traffic Count Sites for more detail on availability and charges.
